Vivian Harberts completed her Master of Arts in education focused on vocational and business education and is doing her PhD at the institute.
From 2017 to 2020, she was the project manager in a project to develop a VPL tool to determine the skills of semi-skilled and unskilled workers (KOFEBS, ESF). Since 2018 she has been involved in various EU projects in the field of work-based learning as well as the digital transformation of VET schools. Among these she was part of the project teams of PRO-VET (Erasmus+), which dealt with improving VET in Russia. and Serbia through the professional development of teachers via knowledge-building (MOOCs) and practice, reflecting the European VET experience as well as DUAL-ECOSYSTEMS (Erasmus+) which aims to identify and evaluate local network`s successful practices on the delivery of dual training programs in order to evaluate the transferability of each good practice at a larger scale for the success of all (student/worker, companies, university, VET institutions). She will implement quality standards in the project, conduct research activities, and transfer EU expert knowledge.
Peter Kaune studied Cultural Studies and Sociology in Bremen and Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He received his Master’s Degree in 1995. He started working as a researcher in ITB in 1997 in the department of International VET Research. After a short break as coordinator for International Exchange in the Department of Social Sciences, he returned to ITB in 2001 as administrative director. Since he has been involved in the administration of almost 100 EU-funded projects at the institute in various funding programs such as Leonardo da Vinci, Erasmus+, the 5th and 7th research framework program of the EU, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe or Tempus, in 2006 he was also the director of the largest VET-Conference worldwide with more than 2.000 participants (Hochschultage Berufliche Bildung). When his other duties allow it, he is also involved in research, mainly in international projects. In the project, he will be responsible the successful management of administrative tasks of the project.
San Jose Maristak Durango
ICT teacher in Advanced Vocational Training. In charge of ICT related internships in companies. She participates in the Erasmus+ projects, such as “CyVETsecurity” in HETEL and “Dual ECOsystems – EU Alliances for ICT”. She has good skills about Information Security and Information and Communication Technologies, backed by her professional experience in companies. She is the school’s digital transformation manager. Since 2017, as a volunteer with the NGDO SED, she has carried out cooperation activities, such as digital workshops in some public schools in rural areas of Lake Victoria in Kenya. 2017-2018, during the school period, challenges were developed (android development of educational games and 3D printing of board games) together with the high school students of Maristak Durango for children in Kenya. During the holiday period, she participated in the volunteering programme developing workshops to promote digital competence in collaboration with the local partners of the NGDO SED. 2018-2019, during the school period, she developed challenges (android development of educational games and design of a logo for a Kenyan youth association) together with the high school students of Maristak Durango, for the Kenyan children and youth. During the holiday period, she carried out diagnostic work and participated in the volunteering programme developing workshops to promote digital competence in collaboration with the local partners of the NGDO SED. 2019-2020, during the school period, she developed a social entrepreneurship project (development of the web platform of services with IT resources) together with the students of the Advanced Vocational Training in Computer Science of Maristak Durango for the students and teachers in Kenya. During the holiday period, she gave informal online digital training. 2020-2021, during the school period, she developed a social entrepreneurship project together with the students of the Advanced Degree of VET in Computer Science and Intermediate Degree of VET in Electrical and Automatic Installations of Maristak Durango, for the implementation of the electrical installation with photovoltaic panels and computer equipment of a new Resource Centre that was being built by the NGOD SED in Kenya. During the holiday period, she provided online training based on the European DigComp framework. Results published in “Online Digital Workshop: An Opportunity for Digital Learning in Kenya” (2022): https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-030-96060-5_13. 2021-2022, during the school period, she carried out a campaign to collect digital resources to be adapted by the pupils of Maristak Durango and give them a second life. During the holidays, with all the resources collected, she gave face-to-face digital workshops at the Resource Centre. 2022-2023, during the school period, she develops sustainable challenges to break the digital divide (website to support the campaign and manage donated digital devices) together with Maristak Durango IT VET students for Kenya.
Electrical and Automatic Installations teacher in Intermediate VET. He trains in professional modules such as “Solar photovoltaic installations”, where students analyze, configure, assemble and maintain solar photovoltaic installations, connecting the installations to the grid and applying the rules of occupational risk prevention and environmental protection. During his academic experience, he participated in a social entrepreneurship project together with the students of Maristak Durango, for the implementation of the electrical installation with photovoltaic panels of a new Resource Centre that was being built by the NGOD SED in Kenya. He has experience working in companies related to
telecommunications, deploying networks for mobile communications.
Warnborough College Ireland
Dr Julian Ng has a PhD in Educational Management with a specialization in teaching methodologies. His undergraduate work was in Computer Engineering, and he also has degrees in business. He has developed complex web systems for companies as well as educational institutions since 1996. In 1997, he developed a fully online model of education for Warnborough College and created a blended learning model for students in selected countries. He has worked with learners and teachers in 30 countries and understands over 10 languages. His teaching experience spans 28 years. He will provide digital teaching strategies, pedagogy, andragogy and course development.
Olga has worked in many capacities and also was involved in Business Development for petro-chemical and solar energies in Central Asia.
University of Rongo
Wycliffe is a Corporate Governance and Project Management Consultant with over 10 years’ experience in project design, planning and management as well as corporate governance, policy formulation and implementation, change management and business process re-engineering. Holds a Master’s Degree in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi, A Bachelor’s Degree from Egerton University and is currently a PhD Student in Strategic
Management at Rongo University. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management specializing in Supply Chain Management and Certificate in Project Monitoring and Evaluation. Wycliffe has undergone various leadership and corporate governance trainings at the Kenya School of Government and other institutions. He is also an alumnae of the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI). Wycliffe has been part of Rongo University research team and has contributed to the University winning various research grants over the years. He brings to this team his focus on project implementation, corporate relations and project reporting capabilities.
Dr. Jonathan Mulwa is a Senior Lecturer of Finance in the School of Arts, Social Sciences and Business and currently the Dean of the School. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Moi University, Master of Business Administration (Finance), and B.BM (Finance and Banking) from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. He has conducted research in the areas of Financial Intermediation, Corporate Finance, Entrepreneurship and Corporate Governance. He is passionate about youth empowerment and development especially in entrepreneurial skills and technology use. Dr. Mulwa brings his rich acumen in project leadership, research competence and his ability to work with young people to inspire growth.
Holds a bachelor’s degree in information science, a master’s degree in information technology, and is currently enrolled in a PhD program in information technology in the Department of Information Technology at Kibabii University in Kenya. He is the Head of Administrative services in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and a lecturer in the Department of Information Science, Health Records, and Health Systems at Rongo University in Kenya. He has attended various learning forums, convenings, and leadership seminars, and he has published eight papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has received fellowships from the University of Michigan and the Clinton Global Initiative University at Vanderbilt University. He has also contributed to the development of various research grants, some of which have been awarded and are now being implemented. He is deeply committed to fostering sustainable development by providing digital solutions to social problems. In this line, his current study focuses on using predictive analytics to improve agricultural output in the Lake Victoria Region considering the challenges caused by climate change. Stephens brings to this team his ICT expertise and administrative proficiency.
Miramba Mixed Secondary School
Mr Protus is a trained High School teacher who has grown in leadership ranks to the position of Principal. He is the pioneer Principal of MMSS and will be key in offering project implementation leadership within the school. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Education and has undergone various trainings in Education Leadership and Management.
Ms Akoth is a trained High School Teacher specializing in Mathematics and Physics and is registered with the Teachers Service Commission in Kenya. She leads practical lessons in technology in the school and will be key in practical implementation and assessment of the project.
Mr Vincent is the Assistant Principal of the School. A trained teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree specializing in Mathematics and Geography and is in charge of administration services in the School. He will be key in project implementation and coordination in the school.
Kiabuya Mixed Secondary School
Mr Abwao is a trained High School teacher who has grown in leadership ranks to the position of Principal. He is the pioneer Principal of KMSS and will be key in offering project implementation leadership within the school. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, with special focus on Sciences and Technology. He has undergone various trainings in Education Leadership and Management.
Holds a Bachelor Degree in Education specializing in Mathematics and Business Studies. He has also done Accounting courses and is well versed with financial management and reporting. Mr Owuor is in charge of ICT implementation in the school and will be key in offering administrative support and reporting during this project.
Mr Oyier is a trained teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree specializing in English and Literature. He is in charge of students welfare in the School and an academic leader in languages. He will be key in project reporting and coordination in the school.
St Joseph Olando Mixed Secondary School
Mr Olango is a trained High School teacher who has grown in leadership ranks to the position of Principal. He is the pioneer Principal of SJOSS and will be key in offering project implementation leadership within the school. He holds a Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Education and has undergone various trainings in Education Leadership and Management.
A trained High School Teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and Post Graduate Diploma in Education. He is also the Head of Department of Mathematics and Sciences in the school and will be in charge of project implementation and coordination in the school.
Mr Ogutu is the Acting Deputy Principal of the School. A trained High School teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and Mathematics. He will be supporting project implementation with administrative concepts and coordination in the school.
